Description
Part of Stock of Anchor of U. S. Congress Frigate, rectangular piece of wood consisting of many holes. Burnt by CSS Virginia (formerly USS Merrimack, and persistently mid-identified by that name or as "Merrimac") off Newport News 3-8-1862. Wood was underwater for 16 years.
