Description

Basket with lid. Manufactured by coiling technique using raffia threads.

The elements are a stiff core of one or more fibers and a softer strip for sewing. The spiral course of the foundation is conspicuous, but the core itself is entirely hidden by the oversewing. A pattern was produced by the use of neutral and dyed strips (black, gray, yellow, and brown) in alternating stripes which encircle the basket and lid. The bottom of the basket is neutral.

A strap is attached to opposite sides of the basket. The sides of the basket are straight and expanding; sides of lid are straight and parallel; bottom and top are flat. {Dia: 3.8" H: 2.1"} lid{Dia: 4.4" H: .8"}.
