Velvet/Silk Crazy Quilt. Patchwork consists of (9) 42-43 cm. squares plus (3) 20x43 cm. rectangles with 17 cm. solid border and 8 cm. ribbon ruffle. Patchwork fabrics velvets, brocades and satins of dark reds, blues, earth-tones and golds predominantly. Embroidery in silks and chenille of various colors and weights - flowers and outline stitches predominant. Border teal velvet; ruffle red silk. Back of mustard yellow silk and satin ribbon bows.

Margaret Lentz

Margaret Lentz taught needlework in Stuttgart, AR in the late 19th and early 20th century. She had become fairly famous for her embroidery work, with clients across the US. In 1904 she won bronze and silver medals for articles she showed at the World's Fair in St. Louis.
