Kevin Thornton:
I am an alumni, class of 1997, with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. I was a trumpet player in the marching band and the Hogwild Band for all four years of college. I still play at homecoming and at the invitation of the Hogwild band when students are away for the holiday break.
In 8th grade, I knew I wanted to be in this band. I would watch Razorback games on TV with my mom and see the band director running around Barnhill Arena like a crazy man, the applause meter by the band and the excitement the band created. I knew I wanted to be part of that! Back then, the band was on TV often and I loved seeing the marching band's Big A and all of the traditions every season. (Back then, the band was on TV often. Not so these days.)
I look back on my time in the band as one of the best experiences of my life. And I'm so grateful that I can still play in the alumni bands.
