Description

Bronze ceremonial vessel (possibly a wine cup or "jue") with tripod base (legs are approximately 9.5 cm). Vessel is deep, decorated with a meander-like pattern, partially covered with patina and has a wide, flaring neck or lip at each end, one triangular and the other 'tongue-shaped' (two lug-shaped projections arise at tongue end with cone-shaped tops). There are four lug-projections in center of each section. There is one strap handle with 1-2 characters on its inner side. The top of the handle has an animal motif (possibly a dragon) and extends from just below the rim to the top of one leg, Height: 19.2 cm; max. width (top): 18.0 cm.
