Description

Owl sculpture. Ironwood.

The base is rough, irregular, wood block base. The smoothly polished owl is standing erect. It has fairly large ears and well defined, small feathered, carved eyes. The top of his head has 10 notched to indicate feathering. The head is turned to face the right and there are 2 large grooves to indicate the back of the neck . The wings are folded and each has 4 large curved lashes to indicate wing feathers. The tail is also grooved to show large feathers. The legs are lightly feathered and the claws are long with vertical slashes. He is dark brown with light wood rings.
