Description
Woven, split oak basketry hamper with opposing side handles and dome-shaped lid; base square, rim circular. Base 2/2 twill weave, sides 1/1 plain weave. Rim finished with horizontal splint reinforcements held in place by overcast splint lashing. Two opposing side handles placed in top half of sides, each notched near ends to provide secure attachment within woven body.
Lid center formed by crossed warps; outer top and sides 1/1 weave, bottom edge reinforced with lashed splints.
