Coyote sculpture. Ironwood.
Coyote "howling at the moon." In sitting position with tail straight up. Mouth is deeply grooved, notched holes for the nose, and the eyes are wide lined carved ovals creating high relief eyeball. Long ears are suggested by long vertical lines. Grooved indentations form toes on both feet. Suggestion of male genitals. Figure is highly polished. Below tail and behind back leg on one side is a wood color change, from dark to light.
